Brief History

The Santa Clara Valley IEEE Section provided funds for the purchase of a unix workstation. Since we received the money during the summer, we only spent about half of it on a bare bones system. The rest will be spent when we discover what sort of use the machine gets (ie, a second CPU if students are running processor intensive jobs).

• Hardware
  • single Pentium III/550 with support for a second proccesor.
  • 128M of RAM
  • 30gig UDMA/100 IDE hard drive
• Software
  • OpenSSH Is being used as our "telnet" server. Please see This page for help on logging in.
  • FreeBSD 4.1.1
  • Apache web server with extensions added as needed
  • CVS is being used for web publishing.
